Pineapple Pulled Pork Pizza

I’ve been on an island of dreaming for the past few months. I keep getting cravings for Hawaiian inspired foods. A few months ago I made pineapple pulled pork pizzas for a group of marines. On the menu was pineapple pulled pork, pineapple pulled pork pizza, rice, Hawaiian sweet rolls, and Fireball pecan pie. My mom always said that food brings people together. It was kind of cool to see that working. A friend of mine came to visit from Ohio. We trade stories of our cravings of Hawaiian goodies. I knew it was a success when I saw him picking pineapples out of the pulled pork. Yes, Ryan. I saw you do that. It might work better with kahlua pork and some cabbage. Maybe some type of Hawaiian sauce too. I think it would work with coconut rice as well. I’m a huge fan of pineapple but this recipe didn’t do it for me. I felt like it lacked island flavors. It was good but just not what I would have liked. I am going to try my hand at making kahlua pork next. Wish me luck.

Pulled pork getting shredded with two forks. I learned that a good piece of pork really makes a difference. The one I bought didn’t have enough fat on it and therefore parts of it was dry.

I put everything back in the slow cooker to absorb the juices.

Adding pineapple and bbq sauce to the pork. Cook it for only 2 hrs max. No longer than 2 hours. I learned that the hard way. I cooked it too long and it became very soup like. The guys still ate it but for those of you that aren’t serving to marines, you cannot cook it for over 2 hrs or it’ll become soup like.

This pizza had pulled pork, pineapples, jalapenos, and bacon.

This one had everything the one above has minus the jalapenos. It was still tasty. I still think it would taste better with kahlua pork.
